すごくロマンチックな職業だと前から思っていた。いつかあの数センチ×数センチの中に、心に残るデザインを施したい。きっとミリ単位、十分の1ミリ単位(あるいはもっと・・・)で最高の配置を探すのだろう。カチッと小さな音がして、完璧な世界が生まれるのだろう。そしてその世界は誰かに届けるために選ばれる。
デザイナーはみんなカチッという小さな音を探してデザインをしている。
私がしているWebデザインはページ物で、デバイス(パソコン？スマホ？機種は？？？)も様々で、それらすべてで見やすくなくてはならない。少なくとも私は美しさを追求するには難しいなと感じている。すべての環境で不快感を与えずに見せることに腐心している。
切手にはその終わりがあるように思うのだ。いや、ないのだろう。デザインに終わりはないのだろう。
だが、カチッという音を捉えて、小さいスペースに没頭して、最高の世界を創る。切手デザイナーは世界の創造主であるとさえ思う。

I’ve always thought it was a very romantic occupation. One day, I want to create a memorable design within those few centimeters by a few centimeters. I’m sure I’ll be looking for the best placement in millimeters and tenths of millimeters (or more…). With a small click, a perfect world will be born. And that world will be chosen to be delivered to someone else.
Every designer designs looking for that little click. The web design I do is for pages, and the devices (computer? smartphone? or…???) are all different. What’s your device? What’s your model? I’ve been working on this for a while now. At least I feel it is difficult to pursue beauty. I’m struggling to make it look good in all environments without causing discomfort. Stamps seem to be the end of the line. No, I don’t think so. But to capture the click, to immerse oneself in a small space, to create the best of the world. I even think that stamp designers are the creators of the world.
